The First Tomato

I picked the first ripe tomato from my one little tomato plant yesterday. It needs probably one more day to finish ripening completely, so I'll probably cut it tomorrow. I am a bit nervous about cutting it. It's silly, but I am so looking forward to a tomato that came off a vine instead of from hydroponics that almost no tomato can really live up to the hype. We'll see.

    I am on tomato watch here but it will be July 4th at least before the first one ripens. Maybe a few cherry tomatoes will color up earlier but the first sandwich slices....I cannot wait.

    There is nothing better to than a sloppy salty slice on white bread with lots of b & l and mayo, eaten standing over the sink.

    How WAS it?

    I've had two from my one little plant, and they are AWESOME!!! I think part of the flavor (which is wonderfully acidic) is coming from the fact that I grew them with my own two hands....
